SPYING OUT THE GLORIES OF THE COMMONPLACE NO3

In God’s economy of grace we can never repay the debts that was forgiven us.

However, if we saw God’s kingdom as a transactional economy, as some do, we would try repay all debts which were written off, by busily doing heaps and heaps of daily good works. In 1000 lifetimes of course we would still never have done enough good works to settle the account.

This is where thanksgiving comes in. Thanksgiving is a daily attitude of heart that leads to the practice of verbally or otherwise perpetually giving thanks to God for His free gift He gave us in His Son and for the other countless gifts He bestows upon us, everyday.

A lifestyle of Thanksgiving is the closest we come to ‘repaying’ such debts. Its our reasonable response to offer thanks, to just say “Thankyou God”. And giving thanks is such a joy and something we can actually do. Its possibly the best “good work” we have to offer, to just say ‘Thankyou Jesus!

The Christisn life is essentially a life of continual Thanksgiving and praise. We praise Him after thanking Him because you realize His matchless worth. What’s in a thankyou ? Everything.

It’s God’s will that we give thanks in all circumstances. Thankyou Lord, for everything, seen and unseen blessings!

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thess 5:18

Rejoice, pray, give thanks … the good, acceptable and perfect will of God.
