“having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever”

1 Peter 1:23

The two verses are linked. The new heart is the incorruptible seed. Hearts are seeds. Within our hearts are the sources of life (Prov 4:23), just as within an acorn seed an oak tree preexists.

The new soft heart that replaced our hard stony heart is the incorruptible seed of God. Hallelujah! Good news.

We are new creations, born from above of the heavenly, and therefore incorruptible seed, not of the corrupted earthly seed of the first Adam. Our hope is in the quality of the new heart given as a gift to us, not of our own merit, but God’s unfathomable kindness.
